Quick Tip: Lens Flare

Ever go to take a photograph with your iPhone and have this happen?IMG_3256Yuck! (Ok, well sometimes it’s cool, but in this instance it isn’t!)In the realm of photography this is called Lens Flare. Now those of us who have fancy cameras with big lenses have lens hoods, lens hoods can prevent lens flare and also prevent you from banging your lens up a lot. So with those cameras we’d pop on a lens hood and boom, no more flare! But, there’s a problem! No lens hoods for our smart phones??!I have a solution for you! When composing your image, if you see that ugly flare setting in, carefully position one of your hands, or a hold a piece of cardboard or something opaque between the lens and the direction of the sun. Be mindful to not have your hand in the image! With this little trick you can achieve this:IMG_3257That image is straight from the iPhone. And of course I wanted to do a little editing in Snapseed, so here’s my final image.IMG_3258Thanks!kate
