Prisma

There's a new app making a bit of a buzz on iOS. It's called Prisma. As someone who's been quite active in the mobile photography space I've seen similar apps over the years, but this one is picking up speed fast.It is pretty cool and dead easy to use.Simply launch the app and select an image to import into the app. Or you can capture with the app.Notes about the app:

  • The app is Free
  • The app shoots/edits in the Square format
  • Output Resolution: 1080x1080, that's about half or less resolution compared to what your newer iPhones capture images at.
  • By default the app will add their logo on the image, you can disable that in Settings.
  • Capacity issues, received a message once that the app was at capaticy, "too many users". So keep an eye on that and try again later.

Now let's peep some edits. This is the Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland.Below you'll see the original and several options created in Prisma.Original w/ VSCO editsColoured SkyThe ScreamFlame FlowerTokyoCandyAnd here's a recent selfie haha. Gotta try it on yourself!TearsAccording to this article, they've released a beta for Android, so if you're on the platform you can check it out to (potentially!).I imagine as they continue to make enhancements to the app they'll increase the resolution output, at least I hope that happens. It would be quite fun to print some of the finished images!
