Travelogue: Views from the roadside, exploring the Scottish Highlands

For the past couple of months, I’ve been sharing kind of a log of an extended trip I took in Scotland last fall.

This post highlights a random group of images that I captured on the road when I would just find little nooks to pull over and pause to take in the scenery.

Most of these are captured on the A82, which might be one of the most beautiful roads in Scotland, at least to me.

I thought it would be fun to share from the surprise car upgrade to views of locks to views of farmland and the countryside. While the car is pretty and comfortable, I’d prefer something that sits a bit more off the ground and is smaller. The roads are narrow in some places.

I’m sure many of you have seen photos of Scotland and thought “I want to go there”, perhaps these images will inspire you to visit sometime.

If you can’t make to Scotland, at least in the immediate future, consider exploring your little part of the world. Whether a walk in your neighborhood, or a drive to the mountains or coast, it’s good to explore.

Over the years I have driven across the US multiple times. Each time I try to find a new route or pause at a different viewpoint to see what’s new, or to see what’s changed.

Sometimes, it’s me who’s changed, and as a result, the way I see a landscape or city is different.

I have some favourite spots in the Pacific Northwest that I visit or try to visit at least a couple of times a year. I think it can be very interesting to revisit spaces you love, to see how they change, or discover details of these places that perhaps you overlooked on previous journeys.
