Travelogue: Musselburgh, Scotland
14 November, 2024
Musselburgh is located on the Scottish coastline, about 20 minutes east of Edinburgh. It’s a location I found on the map when I’d been researching trips to Scotland over the years, which I bookmarked for a future trip.
The trip I planned in the fall of 2024 included two weeks of a car rental and driving all over Scotland. One goal was to revisit and spend a bit more time in a few places I’d experienced on previous trips. A second goal was to see new things. With that in mind, I wanted to be sure to spend a least a night here. And I did.
I found a little inn called Ravelstone House, it’s a handful of rooms above a pub, just a short walk from the waterfront/beach area. The room was updated with a nice shower space, a comfy bed, and of course a kettle.
The pub is very active, and there isn’t much insulation from the pub fun. Fortunately, when I’m really tired, I can sleep through just about anything.
Once I arrived, checked in and got a little organised, I immediately went out to wander the area, and capture sunset (and moon rise).
The location of my lodging to the beach was perfect, very walkable. The beach area was loaded with all sorts of rocks and shells.
This is an area I could definitely see visiting again.
